Icy Swim for Lincoln’s Polar Plunge

This past February my co-workers and I decided to jump, (really it was a timid jog), into the frigid waters of Holmes Lake in Lincoln. This is an annual event and it raises money for the Nebraska Special Olympics, which is a great organization. A week earlier I was regretting that I told my co-worker yes and I knew exactly how to get over my fear of being submerged in ice — do a practice run. In this video you’ll see the practice run – which I’m kind of embarrassed about because it’s so dorky – and you’ll also see our actual day of “plunging.” This hardly phased me and I wasn’t nervous at all, thanks to the practice dip. It was so much fun and there wasn’t even any ice in the lake on the actual Polar Plunge day.

One of the best and funniest parts about this video is that it’s weirdly and creepily gone viral. I looked at the video clicks a week or so after I first posted the video at the end of February and it was up to 200 views. I thought this was pretty cool and great that so many of my friends got to see another cool event that we do in Lincoln. Well I checked the YouTube channel just a few days ago and there were almost 3,000 hits. Apparently it got embedded onto some wet porn sites in the U.S. and Europe. Oh my. I can’t figure out if it’s the lady jogging out of the water in her swimsuit or my co-worker playing with his nipples while posing for our group photo. Can I say “playing with his nipples?” Haaaa. I just asked my boyfriend that and he said, “What???? In reference to who???” Oh boy. I think that maybe my co-worker is the reason why this video has a lot of views. Enjoy.
