Watch this video to check out the winery and brick cave.
Whiskey Run Creek Vineyard and Winery is beautiful. We went down to get our Nebraska Passports stamped and also to taste some wine. The whole setting is really quaint, romantic, and full of history.

The barn was built in 1904 and was moved to this location over the creek in 2001 when the Curttright family was putting together the winery. The barn now contains the retail store and tasting room.
Photo: The barn was built in 1904. The day we went they were getting ready for a wedding in an underground cave, the guests hung out on the deck of the barn before the wedding.
The Curttright family opened the winery in 2002 and one of the reasons they picked the location was because of underground all brick caves on the property.

The cave we got to tour was built in 1866. It’s really amazing down there and the day we went they were getting ready for a wedding.

Ron Heskett, the Vintner Manager and new co-owner with his wife, showed us around the property and then we picked out some wine and snacks. You can get a tasty combination of crackers, cheese and sausage, from the UNL Dairy Store.
Photos: Left, downstairs and upstairs in the barn. About 60 people can sit upstairs. Above, visitors tasting wines.
Along with the barn and cave, Ron has grown the vineyard and production area to seven acres at their place about five miles from the barn property.
Photos: Above, the tastings include 18 different wines and for $3 you can choose five. For $3 more you can keep the glass. Right, we bought the dry red wine, 1854, and also the dry white wine, Robert’s Back 40. Both were delicious and they didn’t last very long.
On September 28 the winery will celebrate their 10th anniversary with a big party. Also you should check out the winery’s website, they have really interesting photo albums with the timeline history behind moving and restoring the barn and restoring the cave.
